Mica was found dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina in April 2024. Her death was ruled a suicide, but protesters gathered outside Mercy Church on Sunday, where her estranged husband, John-Paul “JP” Miller, preaches, saying they still have questions about the circumstances surrounding her death and the investigation. The demonstration comes after the release of Netflix’s three-part documentary, The Death of the Pastor’s Wife, which revisits Mica’s story and the allegations surrounding her marriage. Authorities have maintained that the evidence supports the medical examiner’s ruling of suicide. JP Miller has not been charged in connection with Mica’s death. He is, however, facing separate federal charges of cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators. Miller has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to stand trial in October.
