@1010wins923: Former Fire Commissioner Sal Cassano will be among those honoring dozens of FDNY members whose names are being added Wednesday to the department's Memorial Wall for deaths related to World Trade Center illnesses. The annual ceremony at FDNY headquarters in Downtown Brooklyn is a somber reminder that the impacts of 9/11 are still deeply felt nearly 25 years later. This year, 36 names are being added. Cassano told 1010 WINS that the staggering losses of Sept. 11, 2001, are compounded by the near-weekly deaths from 9/11-related illnesses. "I tell people Sept. 11 didn't end on Sept. 11. It's still going on. We just lost another member this week who will be the 452nd member we've lost since Sept. 11 due to their illnesses," he said. He said there's always a large showing at the ceremony to remind the families that "your sacrifice, your loved one's sacrifice was not forgotten." 🎤 Glenn Schuck reports 📸 Glenn Schuck, Mack Rosenberg, FDNY 🔊 Tune into 1010 WINS AT 92.3 FM for more local news #nyc #newyorkcity #nycnews #sept11 #sept11attacks #911attacks #fdny #911illness #firedepartment
