There is an amino acid in your blood right now that quietly runs low as you age. When scientists topped it back up in animals, the animals lived longer. It is called taurine. 🧬 In a 2023 study in the journal Science, a large international team found that taurine levels fall sharply with age, in mice, in monkeys, and in people. So they ran the obvious experiment and gave aging mice taurine every day for the rest of their lives. Those mice lived about 10 to 12 percent longer. For a mouse that is three to four extra months, which scaled to a human life is on the order of seven or eight years. And they were healthier, not just older. Taurine cleared out senescent cells, protected DNA, steadied the mitochondria, and calmed the low simmering inflammation of age. In middle-aged monkeys, a daily dose improved bone, blood sugar, and body composition. Here is the honest part. In humans, so far, this is a correlation. Lower taurine tracks with more age-related disease, but no person has yet been shown to live longer because they took it. The human trials are the next chapter. Still, it is a rare and beautiful clue. A single molecule your body is quietly losing, and giving it back rewound the clock in animals. Sources: Singh et al., Science (2023). For educational purposes only. Not medical advice or endorsement of use. The human lifespan data does not yet exist, and this is not a recommendation to supplement.) Follow for more breakdowns. #taurine #longevity #mitocondria #inflamation #recovery

FILM TO TABLE SERIES EP 57: Honeydew from The Ant Bully 🍏🐜 Makes 8 large 2.5-inch liquid-filled spheres Sour Apple Filling * 4½ cups (1,075 g) distilled or purified water * ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar * 20 g calcium lactate gluconate * ½ tsp (3 g) citric acid * Green apple extract, to taste (make sure it’s water soluble) * Green food coloring Sodium Alginate Bath * 6⅓ cups (1,500 g) distilled water * 9 g sodium alginate For Rinsing * Cold filtered water Flavored Holding Liquid * 6 cold filtered water * 6 tsp granulated sugar * Green apple extract, to taste Directions 1. Make the alginate bath: Blend sodium alginate with distilled water until completely dispersed. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2-3hours or overnight until clear and bubble-free. 2. Make the filling: in a large bowl, add water sugar, calcium lactate gluconate and citric acid and mix until dissolved. Mix in the remaining water, then add green apple extract to taste and food coloring. 3. Freeze: Divide between eight sphere molds and freeze overnight until completely solid. 4. Prepare the holding liquid: Stir the filtered water and sugar together until dissolved. Add enough green apple extract to lightly flavor the water. Refrigerate until cold. 5. Spherify: Working one at a time, gently lower a frozen sphere into the alginate bath. Leave for 7-8 minutes, gently rotating it throughout so every side comes in contact with the bath. The inside will still be frozen 6. Rinse: Carefully transfer the sphere to the cold filtered-water bath and gently rinse for 30–60 seconds. 7. Hold & thaw: Transfer the rinsed sphere to the cold flavored holding liquid. Repeat with the remaining spheres, keeping them in a single layer. Refrigerate until the centers are completely thawed. #foodfromfilms #honeydew #antbully #Recipe #ediblewaterbottle
