The difference isn’t just dental. It’s structural. When teeth are removed to “make space,” the jaw doesn’t grow wider. The palate can remain narrow. The face can appear longer and flatter. Tongue space decreases. Nasal breathing becomes harder. Expansion works differently. It supports forward growth. It creates width in the upper jaw. It gives the tongue space. And when the tongue has space, nasal breathing improves. We are designed to fit 32 teeth. Crowding is often a developmental issue, not a design flaw. This isn’t about criticising orthodontists.
