I had a guy today get annoyed at me because he only had a £50 note and I couldn’t take it cuz I didn’t have enough notes in my till nor would I been allowed since it was under £25… he got so annoyed at me.. I just went “I DONT MAKE THE RULES I am just going by what my team leader just told me on my headset she makes the rules not me” like bruh who the fuck carry’s a £50 note btw he had TWO! But seriously the whole time he was arguing with me about it he could’ve just payed.. 😭

remembering when i was a teen and forgot to tell the cashier that i paid for cash back, and even though it was on my receipt they wouldnt give it to me 😞 i didn't put up a fight and was so sad and i shall forever remember to tell them if i prompt the machine

dude I had someone with a $5 order try to pay with a $100 bill at 5:30 IN THE MORNING then get mad bc I couldn't do it. we only have $100 in the till at all times btw, and we'd been open for only half an hour

I had to stand behind a complete idiot the other day and istg it took years off my lifespan. She gets to the self check-out till, scans a tray of frozen chicken breast. The screen displays an automatic "Put your item on the counter by the side" message (in my country, the counters have scales to make sure you're not shoplifting). The message was in bold red letters over a white background. She scans the fucking tray again. It obviously doesn't work, the till is waiting for her to put it on the counter by the side to continue. She picks up another tray. Tries to scan it. Doesn't work, OBVIOUSLY. Calls over the customer support lady, and with the most deadpan expression in the world announces "I think this till is broken". I swear I was THIS CLOSE to bashing her head in. Then the line moves and I go to another self checkout till. And I leave, and she's still struggling to pay because her card didn't have the balance and she couldn't be fucking bothered to check BEFORE she got to the payment part. And to this day, I refuse to believe people can be THIS fucking incompetent. Unfortunately for me, I know they can, I also work customer service.
