I honestly think its just becoming too cool to hate on shit for it becoming popular. Is it ultra prestigious lit fic? No. But its getting people to read something so I'll take it. Let people enjoy things, most of the opinions I see online have not consumed the content, do not have legitimate criticism, and just hitch themselves to the hate train.

It’s so disheartening to constantly see people presenting themselves with superiority complexes by making fun of others for what they enjoy reading. Not just for this series but any series/genres that are popular and easily digestible. Can we all just leave it at sharing things we enjoy or discussing why we didn’t like something. Not putting others down for liking something you didn’t.

no one knows how to recommend these books. I had so many people talking them up in ways that made them sound absolutely awful. I eventually listened to the first one on audiobook, liked it well enough to give it one more book, and then I was hooked. but yeah, it's really hard to explain the appeal without making these sound like literally the worst books ever
