@thestrangerseattle: For two weeks, we’ve sneakily delivered cakes decorated with candy, googly eyes, and neon sprinkles (with a no-strings attached $10,000 check on the side) to our six Genius Award recipients, the people and groups we think are moving artistic and cultural mountains in this expensive-as-fuck city. If you weren’t in Seattle circa 2003–2016, you may not know about the Genius Awards; if you were here, you may not remember the parties. They were great parties. We’re throwing another one on September 12th at the Moore Theatre. Hosted by the lovely @misstexas1988 & @theladygugu, this spectacular night of celebration, drag, trophies, giant checks, and live music features @shabazzpalaces are headlining, with DJs @erikblood and @la_mala_noche .
