I've always heard you can mix black and blue or whatever other rule like that as long as it looks intentional and not like you picked things out in the dark. I have a sweater that has black, brown, blue, tan, and white and i like to wear black leggings and brown boots because it has both colors in it. as long as it looks intentional i think it works.
