My dad told me when he came to this country. He saw the last of the Hills and he came in the 1950s. He used to say you could ride the subway for a nickel and with $.25 you could get a burger and a beer and fries.

What I find strange is that throughout this entire video about the "L" trains. You NEVER state why it was called the "L". It was short for ELEVATED trains. Your welcome.

Like you! Elevation transportation was in the Bronx too. I recall when the pillars were left for years.. then removed.
