@thechrishinton: Every romantic relationship ends because of unmet expectations. The problem isn’t having expectations. Relationships require them. The problem begins when we become attached to the outcome and start trying to control another person to meet them. #relationships #relationshipadvice #datingadvice #selfawareness #healing

Yes, you're absolutely right us. As humans tend to expect the same as we treat the other person, unfortunately, 9 times out of 10 that doesn't happen. And we end up disappointing ourselves.

Is expecting her to stop drinking, too drunkenness, every day, for a year, too great an expectation? I filed for a divorce, but it’s still kicking my ass.

Well, he said he was married once before me and turns out he was married 7 times before. I guess I expected honesty…

I like the way you've explained this!! It puts responsibility where it belongs!! I can only control myself, my words and actions!

Chris, it has taken a long time for me to integrate everything you are saying. The content of the book is great and all the examples you walk through in your content further explains how those concepts apply to real life in very practical ways. I better understand why “love is not enough”, especially when there is a disparity in the expectations and transactional nature in a relationship. Thank you for these practical explanations. I am often surprised at the voices that I discover in my family system. Some have been there so long that they “seemed” to be my observer until I dug deeper. So, thank you for these practical explanations work you do, and I hope it helps others in the way it has helped me.

He was emotionally abusive, to me AND THE KIDS, I set a boundary, left because he chose to cross that boundary. I moved on, he acted like the victim. No harm no foul, but distance became the new boundary to avoid continued manipulation and emotional abuse. What would you call that? Me asking for too much? Something wrong with me? I’m just trying to under the point. Or no? It’s good?
