@kathyatthebeach: There are plenty of books telling us how to take care of ourselves as we get older. But I’m beginning to think we could use another kind of manual. One for all the things nobody really prepares us for. The changes in our relationships. The changes in our roles. Retirement. Having more time. Missing parts of our old life even when we don’t actually want that life back. And learning who we are as everything around us begins to look a little different. If I could write one page in that manual, mine would say: Give yourself time to transition. You don’t have to figure out retirement—or growing older—overnight. You can be grateful for where you are and still grieve something you’ve left behind. You can love your new life and still miss pieces of the old one. Maybe growing older isn’t one enormous adjustment we’re supposed to make. Maybe it’s hundreds of little adjustments we learn to make along the way. That’s what I’d put on my page. Now I’m genuinely curious—what would you put on yours? 💛 #retirement #nextchapter #retirementreflections #retiredlife #over60
Never forget to be thankful each and every day .Do the things you love and never had time for. Spend more time with family and friends never stop living life, it’s a precious gift.

I was in IT almost 30 years and was very ready to be done with that chapter. What I really love to do is teach ,so now I substitute and/or tutor part time, and I love it. So my page would say, find something you really love to do, whether it’s paid or unpaid. Don’t commit to too much time at first. It is an adjustment!

Setting the setlist for this upcoming leg is absolute chaos right now. We’ve got the anthems locked in, but we want to slide in a deep cut just for the diehards.
Option A: 'Lady Strange'
Option B: 'Paper Sun'
Drop your vote in the comments. Whatever wins might just make it onto the stage tonight. Let’s hear it! 🤘🎸"

Reinventing yourself and excepting that if you do it helps the changes . You can’t stay the same and most of your work family is not really even a close friend .

I love this advice. I’m now 82 and looking back on my retirement. I had a unique situation. I had a stroke 3 weeks before I retired. To say all my plans blew up would be an understatement! I gave myself time to grieve the future I had planned and then to create a future that, although limited, has been rewarding.
