When I first started breastfeeding, I thought I was prepared...   I had read the books. I had taken the classes. I thought breastfeeding would be intuitive...   But then reality hit.   Over the last 9 years of breastfeeding three babies (and as a birth & postpartum doula), I've learned something I wish every new mama knew:   Support, hydration, and the right tools can completely change your experience.   Here are the things I wouldn't breastfeed without:   ✨ A nursing cover that gives you the confidence to feed anywhere (for me, that's The Cocoon™).   ✨ A Haakaa. The amount of milk I would have lost without one still hurts to think about.   ✨ A nursing bra that makes you feel beautiful—not just functional.   ✨ Investing in cute, functional nursing clothing that made me feel put together and beautiful (I didn't know I was going to have 3 babes...buying quality, long lasting items, went far! But I wish I would've done it from the start)   And maybe the biggest lesson of all...   Just because you're a new mom doesn't mean you have to sacrifice yourself.   For a long time, I believed motherhood meant putting myself last.   Now I know the opposite is true.   The less I sacrificed my confidence, comfort, and sense of self, the more present I became for my babies.   Let's make this season a little easier.     What was the one item that made the biggest difference in your breastfeeding journey? I'd love to hear it below.
