@modamensch: #stitch with @hotdogbun6667 White curlies, we need to get it together. Black women started the curly hair movement as we now know it, when it was originally the natural hair movement, and there is no reason for us to be considered "the default" for curly hair, because we're sure as hell not the blueprint. Show some basic respect for the folks that taught us how to do these routines and stop treating them like they're unreasonable for noticing the ways in which they're excluded. If you follow me and you found yourself in this comment section yapping about "reverse racism," you should be ashamed. Please go leave OP some positive comments, this is ridiculous and unfair. #curlyhair #racism #curlygirl #curls
No exactly!!! They’re so rude to her for no reason when all she said is that she wanted to see people who look like her

I’m so thankful I was around for the OG black curl movement and figured out how to take care of my hair back then. If I had to do that in 2026 it would be MUCH harder. Especially because I have type 4 hair.

But it’s so weird like Africa is the second largest continent with like 2 billion people and like 4c makes up like 95% of the curl patterns on the continent, making black people the global majority 😭 so why wouldn’t the majority be the reference point?

There has been literal laws that discriminated against Black hair and saying that a person with straight/ wavy hair is forcing a curl is "taking something from you" is crazy.😅 People really need to check their privilege 🤦🏾♀️

not trying to be bombastic but the amount of movements, trends, styles, everything that white women have done this too, especially to women of color but especially to black women is like so numerous

i think the issue i had with her content was the fact she goes out of her way to support and like peoples comments harassing and wishing harm on people saying it’s algorithmic and you can choose the curl pattern with tiktok’s feature

I really need my fellow white curlies to understand our privilege because we do not face oppression based around our hair. Like no, people calling your hair frizzy or your mom spending an hour detangling it is not the same as what black people with tighter textures face. And it’s perfectly fine to have wavy hair. It’s not a monolith 😭

People never take this view point but they are literally arguing with a teenage girl about wanting to feel seen in a community and find representation in media.

A black woman in the hair care section helped suggest to me light weight products for my waves when I started taking care of my wavy hair. All I said was to my sister- “I’m overwhelmed, how do I know which one to get?” And I am forever grateful for that woman, I hope she always has the best days she can.
