I go to school at UAH. the money is going to student resources. I'm an out of state student and they are providing me funding I can afford. college should be student based and not in one advertising

This is the journalism I needed, UAH is totally invisible from life in Huntsville. Never thought about that but I cannot tell you the last time I saw anything from them

They do advertise in other parts of AL, just not in Huntsville, and not as strategically. I saw an ad in Mobile once which felt very random. I think they do some digital ads as well, but I've never seen them-- which is fair I'm not the target audience. The admissions office isn't connected to the marketing department so they focus on direct recruitment for enrollment instead.

I used to work for universities amd interacted alot with surrounding communities, students/families, travel sport coaches, etc... one or both is happening: old heads who don't like change or continuing to hire ppl who will conform so change never happens.

there's billboards, but you're mostly right. they recruit at high schools a lot. they hit over 10k students but went down post COVID. they're really good about school to industry pipeline. I think UNA probably gives a better college life experience

uah also doesn't have any d1 sports compared to UNA or Alabama A&M. UAH has the same as a community college. they don't even have ICE hockey anymore.

UAH doesn’t have a football program, or a band, a lot of people go to UNA for the marching band, it really just comes down to the fact that UNA and UAH have different specialties

The ball field is technically in Madison and they're still mad about the team being named after Huntsville and everyone acting like its Huntsville's team and stadium. Them selling ad space to una instead of uah makes an aggressive amount of sense lol

They really don’t care about local students. They really try to pull from Tennessee as local UAH student. They offer in-state tuition to most Tennessee students and sometimes with Georgia and Mississippi.

they also have some UAH ads that show up on the screen at Havoc games, at the VBCC
