I’m sorry this is a terrible take. So if it hits home with 7 people but the entire rest of the audience doesn’t like it, our response should be well at least someone understood it? Btw I like the show but it’s not just white people that get sick of the race narrative plenty of black and brown people get really tired of it because at a certain point it’s soooooo predictable and unoriginal. For example blade is my second favorite comic book character ever. If they made it tomorrow and tried to push any kind of race narrative I would be so fckn over it. I just wanna see him kick ass. This shit is suppose to allow us to escape not everything has to touch on social issues. There is absolutely nothing creative or new about tying social issues/race, etc in 2026. Sorry. I genuinely lose interest, been black and Puerto Rican my entire life. And I don’t see how it’s not embarrassing to more people that everything black and brown needs to pander to the black and brown “experience”.

The problem is that it got thrown in people's faces before you got the audience hooked. You, put a good story in and get them to love the charchter first. Then if you want to go down that road fine. She just took a baseball bat and beat people with it to make point before you established your audience

It was absolutely necessary to not only talk about race but to show the effects and impact of it. In episode 3, race was the main driving force behind the mom's motivation to make John into a Green Lantern at all cost.

L take because john already had good lore that touched on his race so we didn't need to rewrite a worse version that missed the point of the original and changed the lore to do so. John is the one whose character is hurt most by the rewrite. why make both lanterns, his parents, the selection process and everyones logic worse?

But that’s the point. You act like the writer’s reason for doing it justifies it. It doesn’t. At the end of the day, you have an audience to cater to. Sadly, that means if you want your show/movie to be successful, you have to cater to your audience. If you don’t, then your audience will check out. We don’t owe it to you to watch and enjoy woke projects. And we have a right to complain about them. And if we don’t watch, they will fail. And you then can complain about us not watching it, but that doesn’t mean we have to care. Lanterns will get cancelled like all these other misguided projects because it’s being written for YOU, not ME, and I’m taking the hint and turning it off. Period.
