How can the council expect residents to use these small food-waste bins when the collections are not being carried out on time? Over the past few weeks, bins have gone uncollected for more than four days. Leaving food waste sitting around for that long could attract rats and cause a serious pest problem. Before introducing smaller food-waste bins, the council should make sure collections are frequent and reliable.

With respect, this is exactly why communication matters when you hold public office. When discussing something as basic and important as our bins and local services, residents deserve a councillor who can speak clearly, confidently and coherently — not someone who spends half the time saying “er… er… erm…” as though their internal software is still loading. 🤖 I appreciate that public speaking and media interviews don’t come naturally to everyone, but when you choose to represent the public, being able to articulate your position is part of the job. It isn’t unreasonable for residents to expect someone speaking on their behalf to sound prepared, assured and capable of answering questions without sounding like they’re buffering every few seconds. Hopefully the potential media training is taken seriously, because there is clearly plenty of room for improvement. We don’t need robotic soundbites, awkward pauses and a sentence that takes five minutes to find its destination — we need councillors who can stand up, speak up and properly represent the people who elected them. If the bins are overflowing, at least the “erms” shouldn’t be. 😂

Big bins get nicked when you leave it out on bin days, not sure what will happen to these little ones 🤣 and on windy days all food will be all over the streets 😏🤷🏼♀️these little bins are too light in weight
