I did this during Covid. Honestly it wasn’t too bad. Just had to replace the things every 3ish months so it was fresh like the glue stick or the erasers, crayons & colored pencils if they were broken.

We did this for a while with my 4 year olds but it didn't work to well. The markers would dry out for some kids so they'd have to borrow to get assignments done, Same thing with glues if they weren't closed all the way. It was just easier for my class to have giant buckets or Art boxes of media and keep the glue and scissors with me. We also weren't allowed to require a school supply list so for maintenance it was cheaper to just have community things because it was coming out of my pocket.

I couldn't stand my kids sharing supplies in the younger years during cold and flu season.
