Unless you're saving lives, nothing should be urgent. The amount of people who are late on stuff is far beyond our understanding. The false urgency is constructed by management to impose control.

I had a boss tell me that I couldn’t come in 30 min late to a shift so that I could take my daughter to her first day of kindergarten because it was SO IMPORTANT I finish this proposal for him. He himself came in 4 hours late and then never even sent it to the client that day. I cried in the bathroom, and never made that mistake again. 17 years later I still regret not just telling him to screw off. I was a single mom getting no child support and needed the money.

one of my biggest pet peeves is being told to do something that I'm already doing and they can see I'm doing it. that's a sure fire way for me to STOP doing said task and put at bottom of the list

the best is when they have it for days but they wait until an hour before they need it to actually look at it, then they have 17 questions and 31 last minute changes they want to add and get mad if you can't do it
