making an optimized modpack on new versions without making some mods yourself is almost impossible unlike 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 where the community had a lot of time to make optimizations 1.20.1 and higher mods aren't as optimized for example 1.12.2 has even its own fork of forge called cleanroom that was made specifically for performance

if this is a performance based mod, you can change the Java version to 25 (unless already on 25) and add in some JVM arguments. I did that on my i5 7200u laptop with integrated graphics and doubled my FPS while also stabilising it (before was 20-30 with a lot of stutters, now 50-70 with barely noticeable stuttering). highly suggest doing that
