I hate when my friends or family say their back hurts as they glance at me and say, not that it’s as bad as yours or anything. Like… is that reverse ableism? I hate when they minimize their pain because there wasn’t a significant event related to it.

💜 I also have to say, age matters. You have AS and your 35y. I have AS and Im 52y. I went down at 43y. but at 35y I was still working. We are not all the sane. Yes, Stop doing that!!

Taylor u r T. I luv how u lay it out and stand on business. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) and when I put makeup on and a pretty dress to go out mind u I’m in Portugal 🇵🇹 u walk everywhere its not walking it’s hiking the high ass cobbled hills and within an hr I feel like I’m dying and that’s with extra pain meds. Ppl can b ignorant. As an RN I witnessed a 20yr old male on the floor screaming with kidney stones and ppl b saying “I had those and isn’t that painful.” Maybe not for u but this young man went septic and was literally begging for help he couldn’t handle the pain. I told him to go to another hospital and he was in a bed with IV MEDS in 30min. I got let go cuz of it

Mind you I've been in ICU since Monday due to not being able to breathe, tightness in my chest, fibromalgia, chronic back painand heart failure. So yeah everyone is different. Being in ICU for the first time in my life is scary. They are still running a million blood works and scans on me. I physically can not get off the bed without assistance. Haven't been able to drive all summer and I've been diagnosed with Fibromalgia for a decade

The worst is my father going to his Church friends talking about my pain then coming back to me telling me about how they healed. They getting get electrocuted too. Sir🤦🏾♀️

I have to report my physical therapist because she injured me trying to prove our EDS was the same. she was offended that my EDS was "more special" was the term she used and refuse to believe me about how fragile and overworked my muscles were and how bad my spine actually is.

exactly! I could no longer work as a nurse at the age of 59. It is a physical and mental job. I worked as long as I could but once I felt it was unsafe for me and my patients I retired. I still miss it but deep down I know it was the right call. Not everyone is the same, we are all different. Chronic back pain, complex pain, arthritis in my joints and even my hands.

Girl YES 🙌 i stopped sharing because instead of receiving support- its a competition I always say “trust me winning at who is off worse or has more pain, is not a competition I want to win!!!

I do work but it’s horrible everyday, I’m currently home today & will be researching disability with my rheumatologist next week! I’m afraid it’s about to cost me my job! Love you & love this post! Everyone is different 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Fr. everyone is different. My mom has stage four cancer. I have all these other conditions. If I feel like I can't move for the day, I feel sick or on the edge of passing out. I will take it as a sick day. She gets mad and so do the other people. They'll say things like you just mentioned. It's annoying and frustrating. It's not a competition. They're compasion and empathy is gone if it's not for them.

I agree. there are different levels of fibromyalgia. I hate it too. I have started to not tell anyone at work when I am in extreme pain. I just take sick leave.

I never knew this was happening. I have multiple chronic illnesses that cause severe pain and I can't work. I have chronic back pain , SFN and other chronic back pain. It is not easy. Everyone's symptoms are different. And we have alot of people who don't see our pain. We need to build community and educate people, come to get . The ones that have mild pain, severe pain and chronic pain come together do a podcast and educate others about it. I will definitely do this in the future if the lord YEHOSHUA grants me too.
