I think that statement is used to avoid accountability. Mine basically said he wished he hadn’t eventually shared that he’d cheated on and used every woman before me so now when I said it was a pattern and I don’t didn’t want any part of it, I was “throwing it in his face”. I thanked him for his late honesty and got on my way. Absolutely ridiculous and BS.

What’s really ironic to me is that men claim that women throw their emotions back in their faces so, that’s why they don’t express their emotions yet…that is what men do to us. But…we still express our emotions anyway because they are natural and there is no reason to pretend that we don’t have them. Women are crazy, sensitive, weak etc. Isn’t that all using our emotions against us??

It’s interesting because on the flip side, a woman who lacks emotional maturity or suppresses her emotions usually from trauma, usually from never being taught falls under that same category you’re describing.

Nice, I support any man that understands therapy isn’t always disorder or limited ability. It’s not a cure all but a start to checking ego at the door and understanding emotions and accepting said emotions is hue man!! Yes I said it!!

As a doctor, do you have a theory about what contributes to this and how we can prevent it in young boys? I wonder if part of the problem is that we shut down boys’ emotional expression so early that they never learn how to process their feelings. How can you develop emotional maturity if you’re taught to suppress your emotions instead of understanding them? And this isn’t just a problem with men. We see women struggling with emotional regulation and impulsivity, too. I think we’re failing to teach children that emotions and logic aren’t opposites. Emotional maturity is learning to acknowledge your feelings without letting them distort your reasoning or dictate your decisions. I’m curious what your professional perspective is on that. I don’t have children yet, but that’s a very important lesson that I always felt is very important to see children and I would like to teach my child one day, especially if it can prevent this from being an issue in their adult years.

I wish man allows himself to heal. Because it was also show how strong they really are mentally. Everything you’ve gone through is valid and putting your emotions on someone else isn’t fair. You’ll be having better relationship with the opposite sex or even with the same sex when you allow yourself to heal.

I love to tell “it’s just logic” people that logic has a goal, it’s not just common sense. The button question from last year poses the perfect scenario to explain how logic is determined by the goal. If your goal is to individually survive, the red button is most logical. If your goal is group survival, blue is more logical since it’s easier to convince 51% of people to do something than convince 100%. People won’t acknowledge their logic as subjective
