They have for sure changed over time, and continue to do so. It’s real life-changing work to tell yourself that what you value is actually how you are living your day to day life. Part of you wakes up and goes, “But wait! I want more! I want different!” And then you get to go through the process of actually changing how you live your life, to be in alignment with your values. Are you unhappy? I can guarantee, somewhere, someway, somehow, you are not living according to at least one of your core values, and that is why you are unhappy. Dig deep, find it, change it, and you will be so much happier for it. Peace has gone wayyy up on my list of values over time. You don’t bring peace to my life? You can peace right out of it. Also PLAY is quickly climbing up the list as well ❤️We are not meant to suffer miserably through life. We are meant to choose joy in the present moment.

I have the same *kind* of problem, and I'm in my 40s. To me a value is hard to define... not because I don't know what my standards are, I just literally don't know what kind of standards are definable as a "value" in some way that people expect to hear. I think if you listed out a group of things people define as "values", a lot of people could use that as a guide to figure out where in the basement they need to check.

Love the depth of this conversation! I tend to be a person that aims to work from their values, and would claim to be in touch with them. This was a challenge to me though in light of the other thread of conversation you consistently challenge me on; visibility. I could declare my values all day, but have a done enough that someone could look at how I spent my time, effort, energy, and money and see the values I claim? Thanks for this post, I’m going to go get to work now!
