Such a great video and summary. If only the internet ran on well reasoned, logical arguments!

I think there is one more: the absence of evidence, is not evidence of absence. For example, artificial sweeteners may have an impact on microbiome or brain health but have not been sufficiently studied and there they are considered safe.

You mention gluten: I was having what i thought was gluten intolerance even tho i had always believed other than celiac , that gluten could not be a problem. When i avoided bread i was fine . During covid i got homesick for moms homemade bread ,so started baking my own. No gluten problems with homemade bread! Wth! So apparently its something else in bought bread that bothers me. I suspect an allergy to one of the preservatives

Lying by omission is a really good one. You just have to sound smart talking about things people don’t know much about and they’ll fall for everything you say.

You forgot Number 6- Influencers who hardly know 1+1=2, talking about 'studies' and experiments while being totally unequipper tp be able to criticize or evaluate the studies. Let alone that academia is quite corrupt

This is why a Critical Thinking course is a lower division requirement in college or at least it was when I went to college in California. Learning about fallacies and logic has shaped my approach to learning and discerning new information. It doesn't hurt that I am a natural skeptic as well

False equivalence example: my friend says he can fly but didn't show me yet. He either can or he can't, it's 50-50.

For me, the worst of all that should be bandwagon fallacy because this tactic is used in almost every aspect of society, not just nutrition.

These so called “influencers” are primarily just using scare tactics. The only person I’m interested in listening to about health and wellness is a doctor.

We should only be taking nutrition advice and info from actual nutritionists … personal trainers with a nutrition cert are less helpful than a PT who says “I don’t know, ask a nutritionist”.
