@ridealongcookie: Want to improve your gybes? Stop practising the whole gybe. Break the skill down and train the difficult parts separately. For a lot of windsurfers, the problem happens right in the middle — the foot change and rig flip. So… remove them. Sail at full speed, bear away onto a RUN, and then simply stay there. Keep the board travelling directly downwind. Keep your balance. Keep the rig under control. Just get comfortable with that position. You can exit the run in either direction — but don’t. Stay there for a while. It sounds ridiculously simple, but you’re isolating one of the most important parts of the gybe and removing the pressure to immediately complete the move. Once this position feels natural, you can start adding the next piece. Break the skill down. Train the difficult parts. Then put it all back together.
