Her roommate never intended on any thing. my opinion from the sound of the story is that she was using him as her safe relationship as she went out and played with other men. and if those relationships didn't work out she had her fallback.

O.P is not the asshole. As someone who was asked if another was cheating, your silence and hiding for that person, will make others question you for lying. I was questioned for my morals by the people who found out. I was told that if I could lie about cheating, what else have I lied about. I will never make that mistake again.

NTA! I had a gf that I was pretty serious about who cheated on me and had a similar “plan” to tell me but after months of not telling me her sister told me. I was absolutely devastated but I can’t thank her enough for being the only one willing to tell me! She saved me a possible life time of being cheated on!
