As an ICU nurse, I think it’s also important to remember that mechanically ventilated and sedated patients can have incredibly vivid memories that blend real experiences with dreams, hallucinations, and confabulation. They can feel 100% real to the patient, even when parts didn’t actually occur that way.

We studied this in Psych. They had a group of people and told them they went on a hot air balloon when they were small they family told them they did they even photoshopped pics and they began to construct memories and “remember” the experience but it never happened

100 percent. This is also a common tactic with the police. They will tell you that you did something and that becomes your reality only to find out later that it never happened. They’re more concerned with finding someone responsible, even if it’s not the person responsible.

OMG you just made me remember something from 20yrs ago. Ex told me I did some embarrassing shit that didn't sound like me but he convinced me I did it. Later, a lot later I found out I absolutely didn't do anything of the sort. I knew it but believed him . Soooo there's that now. Damn girl. I'm shook. 😳

Sort of related but not. Whenever I got sick I’d always get really high fevers. One time when I was 9 or 10 years old with a temp over 103, I literally started hallucinating. I saw my mom’s face keep getting bigger and closer to my face, sort of like an alien. Behind her I saw the window drapes start moving and swirling around getting closer to me. Later my mom told me I was totally freaking out trying to escape. No meds except aspirin maybe. So freaking scary to think about. The brain is a very sensitive yet powerful organ 😩

She was sedated and when she awoke, I think she was hearing the people in her room talking. She remembers Patrick telling her AFTER drugging her. IMO he did it

Also, during the trial Reddington made this point with the Dr. for the prosecution. He told him he wrote a paper on postmortem psychosis, only to come back later to correct himself and say it wasn’t a paper on postpartum psychosis it was on schizophrenia. Reddington proved how easy it is to 1. Get a false admission and 2. Created a false memory.

Let me add something here. twenty years of marriage to a man who told me everything I did thought and felt was not reality. i brushed it off, thinking the stuff he says is so outlandish, it's not gonna stick in my head. by the end of 22 years, I could not trust myself with even the smallest thing. Because what if he's right about this particular thing? all they have to do is introduce doubt. Once you lose your self trust like that, you have no idea what reality is anymore. Now mind you, this is just a tiny fraction. Since I don't have mental illness or substance abuse adding to this.
