I have low ferritin (17) but super high iron Saturation. I saw a hematologist and they cleared me for hemochromatosis but as a result I can’t take iron and still experience all the side effects of low ferritin. Any ideas/advice?

I haven’t heard of this, but my ferritin level is out of 16. And both my endocrinologist and PCP don’t seem concerned about it.

I have super low iron, but iron supplements make me crazy sick, no matter what I do to try to help. Children’s cereal, however, is fine. I have endometriosis, so I also started skipping my period a while back because it was recommended to me by my OB/GYN, and I feel like that’s helped a ton. That and switching back to iodized salt.

People always ask/tell me that my iron is low and my tests have never indicated it but this is the first that I’ve heard of this specifically and will be looking into it. Thank you
