While this is a good theory in theory, it only came about because Korra fans tried to justify what happened to her in season 2 as she was getting hate for the severing of the Avatar Cycle. When realistically it makes more sense that whenever a new Avatar is added to the cycle either the Avatar or an Earthbender would come and bend the statues up to make room. I even seen a photo of someone elongating the Air Nation spiral to account for Aang and Korra as further “proof” of this theory.

I can’t really explain it but I feel like this is linked to people doing the “Aang was the better avatar” stuff. Like they’re watching the show as if they’re things that really happened, not stories being told and sometimes being figured out on the fly. The room stops there because that’s where it made sense to stop it when animating the third ever episode. They didn’t film a real thing

My personal belief/head-canon is that yes, it originally wasn’t supposed to be that way, but the creators ended up leaning into it with Korra, with her intentionally being the last avatar in Avatar Wan’s cycle and the dawn of her own in a way. I will say Korra does deserve credit for starting a “new cycle“ BECAUSE she lost her connection to her past lives but was able to reconnect with Raava and the fact that Raava still chose her even after🥺. And with or without her connection to her past lives, she still brought in a new era simply by winning harmonic convergence and defeating Vaatu, so by doing so, she’s physically and spiritually representing the “end of a cycle“ and the “ beginning” of a new one by becoming, effectively the second Avatar Wan (since they’re both the first avatar at the beginning of the 10,000 year cycle) . I know you know all of this, I just love avatar so much, I had to talk about my thoughts. I love your videos and this one was a fun bit of info I didn’t know!😁🫶

I always liked the idea that it was the end to the Avatar cycle but this I prefer more. In Korra I’d of liked a different story than what we got, something more akin to the Avatar just being a natural product of their world initially believing themselves to be the ruler of all other benders but were beaten by the four nations and those that came after were sent on the spiritual quest to bring unity to all things

I saw an interesting comment pointing out that "Wan" means 10,000 in Chinese, and that Raava was supposed to hold 10,000 years' worth of knowledge before her cycle had to reset. I don't recall the exact details, but knowing that a confrontation was bound to happen to seal humanity's fate suggests there was at least a fifty-fifty chance the cycle would start over—either through Vaatu's victory or during the fight itself. Look at when Unalaq tore Raava out of Korra's body: he only had to strike Raava for the connections to break. So, during the Raava-versus-Vaatu showdown, that was likely bound to happen eventually. I hope that makes sense.

I think, and as much as I love Avatar, is that sometimes people forget that shows are hard to make and mistakes get made. Or things aren't planned. Like Kyoshi's spot being taken by a male statue in that episode 🤷♀️Avatar is fallible and things change as shows or movies continue on

Off subject but I’ve been thinking about Aang’s first born Bumi. I believe he spent alot of time with his grandfather Hakoda, they do resemble each other and it may have inspired him to Enlist in the United forces

now I do have a question I know some avatars live longer than others but only 90 avatars but Vatu was locked away for 10,000 years that math doesn't add up. or does it and I'm crazy lol? no hate just trying to understand more

Also it’s very possible the statues can be moved, there are people in this universe that can literally move mountains, so moving statues shouldn’t be impossible

I think the monks just move the statues by one place every time a new avatar is born/dies. Or they hire an earth bender to do it for them. Bet that's not as much work as people think. Also, I consider none of Korra and after as canon

I’d love to see you debunk more theories. There are a lot of theories out there that are neat as AUs or headcanons but when people start to insist they’re canon that’s when misinformation spreads.
