@growwithkaela: Dismissive avoidants aren’t taking in every moment of the relationship the way that you are. They don’t have the capacity to feel as deeply as you do, so this is how they can easily deactivate when things get too real.
you and Mack are totally the best on here ..thank you

I feel sick thinking about it. She’s just ice cold 3,5 years later and a new bf.

Why do they always call you emotionally unstable when you go off on them or tell them how you feel?

I'm so sick of putting people in boxes. no human has edges this clean.
some people might act avoidant in one season and anxious the next. there is no way to predict human behavior.

It really was a cycle, and it's crazy that I felt if we just had one more conversation, one more bonding moment, or one more future hope good enough everything would eventually level out. It never did

this makes so much sense. my ex had said heartfelt things to me like "I would give you my life" and then would say something like "I never said that. I believe that YOU believe I said it but I didn't" or say that wasn't how he really felt. or would just downplay his own words and act like it wasn't serious only to turn around and change his mind again and tell me he actually cared deeply for me, etc. it was the worst emotional whiplash ever

I remember my DA spouse was a raging workaholic. After 15 years of marriage I finally accepted her job was one of her walls from interacting with me and the kids. Only problem was it forced me to do the school runs, lunches, laundry, etc to the point that when Covid came around I became a SAHD without a single conversation. God forbid we ever have a conversation about my career while hers just goes on.

So that explains why my wife still believes when i said “I’ve thought about suicide for years” she took it and retains it as me saying she was the reason, and regardless how many times I’ve said i was not saying that nor did I say that and even gave examples years before i met her. (I’m almost secure now that was a couple years ago)
