@drmaryclaire: Two hundred seventy-nine women, all already on estrogen therapy. 92.9% still had fatigue. 89.6% still had low libido. 88.9% still had memory problems. Researchers added transdermal testosterone without changing anyone's estrogen dose. At three months, 15 of 24 symptoms had significantly improved. Energy, musculoskeletal, mood, cognitive, genitourinary and endocrine symptom clusters all improved significantly. Neuropathic and cardiopulmonary symptoms did not move at all, which is actually reassuring, because a treatment that improves everything usually is not improving anything. Also worth saying plainly: this paper reported no safety data. No adverse events, no lipids, no hematocrit. It measured symptom scores only. Source: Hernandez BS, et al. What if the progesterone you have to take with the estrogen makes you a raging bull and your family is scared of you?

This is all so very confusing. I wish there was clear guidance and how to determine which hormones you need and in which doses. I currently feel like a lab rat trying out various combinations. And things like fatigue and libido are so subjective, I can’t even tell for sure if they’re improving or not.

My gyno won’t prescribe Testosterone even though I told him I’m still experiencing some symptoms on HRT 😞

I’ve been on HRT for a year. Testosterone for the last 2 months. Less muscle and joint pain and my crazy dry eyes are gone!!!!

Do you think a DHEA supplement is just as good for bringing up testosterone levels as the transdermal route?

I volunteer to be part of the clinical trial! Now if only our politicians respected us enough to fund this.

I’m on both. It’s helps but now I spend a lot more on the waxing. If not, full goatee and handlebar mustache

🗣️Testosterone also pulls from your ferritin storage so be careful all perimenopausal ladies that struggle with heavy periods and low iron 💯

I went to the doctor today to discuss a uterine ablation. When the topic of my medication came up, he spent 10 minutes talking about “there is no medical research proving HRT is effective.” I’m so sick of defending HRT with doctors. All I know was that I was in a really bad place for 5 years and now I feel more like myself.

I was doing great until the shortage and the brand of my patch changed. Now I feel how I did before I started HRT. I use telehealth and they don’t prescribe T so I’m trying to find a dr now that can check that out for me.

I added a T gel last Nov. more energy, less brain fog, no mid day napping, and I have found the O again. My new OB tried to cancel my Rx because one blood test said my level was above “normal” by 20 points. I told her to test me again in three months. I didn’t stop and it was mid range for the next test. I will not go back to just est and pro.
