@nurse_girma: ATBUTH Temporarily Closes College of Nursing Sciences Over Hostel Renovation The Management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has announced the temporary closure of its College of Nursing Sciences with effect from Thursday, August 27, 2026, citing ongoing hostel renovation and concerns over students’ safety and welfare. According to a press statement signed by Usman Abdullahi Koli, Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Unit, the closure will remain in effect until further notice. The hospital management said the decision followed ongoing renovation works at the students’ hostel and accommodation challenges that have raised concerns about the safety, welfare and learning conditions of students. Management acknowledged concerns reportedly raised by students over insecurity, hardship and delays in completing the hostel renovation, stressing that the safety, welfare and dignity of students remain a priority. As part of the temporary closure, all academic activities at the college, including lectures, clinical postings and examinations, have been suspended. The management said a revised academic calendar would be released once normal academic activities resume. The students’ hostel will also remain closed until the renovation work is completed and the facility is certified safe for occupation. Students have been advised to remain in contact with their Class Representatives and the Office of the Dean, Student Affairs, for official updates and further directives. The management also urged students to avoid activities or situations that could compromise their safety during the period of closure. “Management sincerely regrets the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders,” the statement said, adding that the decision was considered necessary to safeguard students and ensure that academic activities resume in a safe, secure and conducive environment. ATBUTH management said efforts were continuing to resolve the situation as urgently as possible and thanked students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders for their patience, understanding and cooperation. Further information on resumption and the revised academic calendar, it said, would be communicated in due course. 📑 Ajango Media #nursegirma
