I’m a huge fan of yours, so this is a sincere question! You used to speak so highly of that midwife until that weird (on Emilee’s part not yours) interview with FBS. You don’t speak highly of her anymore, was there a fall out ?

I took the midwife brew with my last two babies — nearly hemorrhaged both times after birth and I now truly believe it was linked to those drinks! Highly don’t recommend it

I didn’t have any nausea or diarrhea at all when I took it and went into labor the next day, it’s different for everyone

I was curious why you went a different midwife route! But that’s awful and I didnt realize all the questions that are necessary to ask even with homebirth midwives until after I had my son! While my midwives were absolutely lovely and my birth went great, I did realize that questions like “what happens if I start approaching 42 weeks” and “how do you handle breech babies” is so so important.

I would never drink castor oil, however after my first I had bad hemorrhoids from pushing. No prescriptions meds worked at we spent $500 on different meds. I found online to apply castor oil topically around the clock on them (external). They were gone in 5 days after suffering for two weeks. It also provided pain relief.

I drank it with my first at 41w1d because I was 0cm dilated and I was starting to get scared to go too far past my due date and definitely took it out of fear— I personally never had any diarrhea or vomiting, but it made my labor SO MUCH more intense and ultimately so much harder. I just had my second baby 5 days ago at 41w2d (without castor oil) and I wasn’t even in labor for 6 hours. I was 10cm dilated when I got to the hospital and he was here within 45 minutes of checking in! I’m so happy I didn’t drink that crap again!!

My midwife had me do the same thing. I immediately puked it up and refused to do it again.

I’ve never needed to drink castor oil… but, i know a lot of us crunchy moms swear by castor oil packs. I’m just like should we question those too or just drinking it??

For my second I was told to take it straight and follow the directions on the bottle. So I took like two tablespoons full not knowing that amount is for constipation and I did not need that much. Well it did work the same day and I was fine until I gave birth. The second I birthed my placenta I was on the toilet for like 10-20 just letting it all go 😭 it sounded like pouring rain and my midwife had to listen to it all.

I went to 42+1 and caved into castor oil, never again !!! My labor was 3 hours but literally no breaks between contractions , compared to my previous birth nice beautiful breaks between contractions. And pooped my entire birth aghhhhh.

I did castor oil with my second bc I didn’t really know better but I didn’t do any weird added ingredients I just mixed it with almond butter and ate it with a spoon and had ZERO symptoms, I did go to the bathroom one single time after my contractions started but it wasn’t even really loose and I had no upset stomach or anything. It did start my labor within an hour and my labor progressed very quickly.

I’ve also heard taking castor oil to induce labor can cause post partum hemorrhage, my sister took this exact drink and hemorrhaged after birth. Thank God she was okay but so scary

i could not find a worse state to be in than having constant diarrhea or vomiting or both right before having a baby that sounds like absolute misery and not to mention constant diarrhea is so bad for pregnant women it can harm the baby and make you so dehydrated wtf😭😭

Washington doesn’t have those legalities but malpractice insurance does! Some practices will work outside their insurance. Others won’t. It’s up to the providers to choose their willingness to take risks on their clients.
