@solidstarts: When first starting solids, a “meal” is often just 1 or 2 pieces of food. There’s no need to offer a full plate with multiple options, as many babies may find this overwhelming. Instead, focus on one or two options prepared in an age-appropriate way. Keep in mind that a baby who is just learning to taste, explore, and chew solid foods will not actually consume much at first as they’re building up their self-feeding skills. As baby grows, you can gradually increase their options, while still serving each food in an age-appropriate way. What about portion sizes? Follow baby’s lead, there’s no need to control baby’s portion sizes or food intake. Baby will let you know if they’re full by losing interest in the meal, turning their head away, or throwing their food. If baby is interested in having more, they may grunt, reach for more food, or vocalize or signal for more food. Remember: Common allergens should be introduced separately from other new foods and tracked closely. You can do this in our app. ➡️ For details on how to prepare any food according to baby’s age, download the Solid Starts app 📱 #SolidStarts #startingsolids #solidfood #5monthsoldbaby #6months
