honestly, if they were to bring back Pepe Le Pew to literally just be a punching bag I think that could be a very funny use for the character. just don't let him do the things he used to, just absolutely dog on him and never allow that character to be happy again.

he is a ethnic stereotype of French men, smelly and sexually agressive. also the cat doesn't hate him just his smell it comes up several times cause he's a skunk an smells bad that's why she recoils there is a few shorts where he loses his scent or she loses her sense of smell and she goes after him in those circumstances. but yeah on the surface it's pretty bad also loony toons aren't for kids that's a accident of syndication

pepe le pew definitely deserves to be canceled. but in EVERY cartoon the joke is that he doesnt know he stinks. Everyone runs from him. the cat does NOT fear for its life. its trying to flee the stink.

Imo they should just retcon his old character and use his characterization from the Looney Tunes Show where he's a hopeless romantic wedding planner who can't get a date because well, he's a skunk and he stinks, that version is a lot more palatable

Hot take but all you have to do to fix Pepe’s character is make him a perfectionist. Make him not want to kiss Penelope until the perfect moment, which will never come. Keep him as a hopeless romantic and make him know that no means no, but make him DESPERATELY want the answer to be yes so he tries to woo Penelope by being who she wants, only for everything to go horribly wrong because of his stench
