I have been single for 8years. For the first 3 years I tried the apps. I had dates and met some nice people, but didn’t have any luck with a long term relationship I was seeking. I have been off the apps for 5yrs now and find meeting people more enjoyable… but tbh I am finding my own peace and self love on my personal healing journey has created more of a hurdle in dating then the app ever did. Now the competition isn’t between more options, it’s between my peace and someone else. Someone truly needs to bring an addition in some intangible way to my life for me to want them as a fixed part of my life because right now my life feels pretty full and sweet. I do want a relationship because life experiences are definitely better when shared, but haven’t found the person that wants to share and create meaningful memories with me yet. So I keep living and meeting people organically, still choosing to stay off the apps.

I met my boyfriend 57 in 2021 when I was 52. We clicked immediately but the was after dating and meeting several that just didnt vibe at all. May 2026 was 5 years for us. Rare but can happen.

Single for 2 years now. I'm GenX and would never consider a dating app. If I don't meet him at work, the gas station, or a grocery store, I'm meant to be single. 🤷♀️

I tried but no luck on the apps. I’d rather meet in the wild. I like going to local restaurants that have patios and play live bands. I usually go with a group of friends. No one has approached yet but I’m also ok with being single and with friends.

I think dating apps made meeting people easier, but finding a genuine connection harder. When there’s always another option one swipe away, patience becomes rare. If I were single today, I’d use apps, but I’d also meet people naturally through friends, hobbies, travel, and everyday life. Real connection takes more than a swipe.

Dating apps are a trap and are suited to how men choose partners- by sight and an interview style bullet point summarised version of how ppl present themselves. I think we need to use social media to be more social👌👌👌

I think dating apps have created a bigger problem.. if your ever up for a chat you can allways wear the heart to show your single😊 Its a big problem and something we need to change ❤️
