They love saying “it’s inspired, it doesn’t mean they have to be super duper accurate!” But then get offended when people make for example Liyue characters slightly dark skinned, like what happened to “they don’t need to be accurate”? The racism is showing

I learned cool stuff from people looking into Genshin's cultural inspirations. I wish more people were willing to do so. And I do really wish Hoyo pushed the character designs further to convey those inspirations. Some of the designs we got were pretty shallow, in my opinion.

wdym IFA and Iansan were done correctly? the most accurate design falls to Citlali, her waist sash and skirt is Aztec clothing, she has a lot of Aztec pattern on her skirt and the weaving style is mostly accurate, she also carries two Obsidian disk on her head like Aztec deities, has many stars refrences cus she's based on Citlalicue and her skirt has galaxy like colour scheme too cus name means skirt of stars, shoes are accurate too though modernized, her companions are accurate to Citlalicue's companion, star, Citlalin and the obsidian butterfly, Itzpapalotl, she has a lot of obsidian motif like the itzli tattoo on her cheeks and Itzpapa's existence, has ton of eyes symbolism, also cus Citlalicue domain is milky way, xolotl who is a the god of underworld has direct ties to Citlalicue cus of the evening star which is in her milky way, that's why Citlali has Axolotl design. I think most of their problem falls under the characters not having any melanin, Mavuika's questionable writing and modernity not being applied to Natlan properly. If you dig deeper into natlan's design crack, they make sense, that would've saved them but they had to make everyone paper white or have olive skin🥀
