@adrianpandev: NEW RULE: USCIS Can Now Obtain Green Card Sponsors' Credit Reports MAJOR IMMIGRATION UPDATE: If you are sponsoring a relative for a family-based green card, the rules just changed. As of August 31, 2026, USCIS has officially released a new edition of Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support). By signing this new 08/24/26 edition, financial sponsors and joint sponsors are now giving USCIS and the Department of State direct authorization to pull their consumer credit reports. USCIS has not announced a minimum credit score, but this gives the agency a new source of financial information when evaluating the Affidavit of Support. If you're sponsoring a family member for a green card, this change is important to understand. ⚖️ Got questions about the new I-864 credit check?
