@littleblossomdarling: have you ever noticed how different this corset shape is to our modern ideal? what’s interesting to me about the curved bellies of the corsets in the 1870s and 1890s- is that this is not necessarily a better trend just because it was highlighting a feature we now frown upon. corsets were still absolutely intended to be shaping women’s natural bodies in to a more acceptable version- just in a different way than we do now. #LearnOnTikTok #fashionhistory #corset #learnhistoryontiktok
the description of 'just another curve to hug' made me so happy

i got to be a fit model for an 1870s walking dress, so i got to have a spoon busk corset made to my measurements. it looks kinda funny on its own, but with the bustle it sort of evens out and looks nice!

the natural form era is my favorite of the victorian period and i hate that it was so short lived 🥲

There's something really attractive about the way a woman's lower belly curves, which makes biological sense....

it makes sooo much sense too bc if you want a smaller waist the squish has to go somewhere! i haven’t made a spoon busk corset yet but all my other corsets naturally push my pudge down anyway so it seems like a pretty expected evolution!

Not the point but it’s so nice to hear someone say corset and not corsette. 😂

one of my favorite corset trends! I've never made one but I wonder if it would be more supportive for a bigger bust cause I've really struggled to get straight front patterns fitted in that area 😭

Nana is exactly what my posture looks like after two pregnancies and two years breastfeeding so far 😭 This makes me feel better because it's a really nice painting.

In my research, I found an article about corsets, specifically addressing how to avoid emphasizing the belly and making you look bigger than you are. right around the 1870s. there was what they called a "French look" corset you should avoid. I dont know what that looks like tho.

I mean why not though it’s part of how women are built so we should treat it as attractive
