@munaug256: The body of the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV (Omukama of Tooro) is expected to arrive back in Uganda on Friday, September 4, 2026.  He died on August 27, 2026, at age 34 in the United States while receiving treatment for an aggressive form of cancer. He had reigned for nearly 31 years after ascending the throne in 1995 at the age of three following his father’s death, making him one of the world’s youngest monarchs at the time.  Arrival and procession plans • Expected arrival: Entebbe International Airport at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4. • President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled to receive the remains, pay his respects, and convey condolences.  • The body will then be airlifted by military helicopter to Kyegegwa District. • From there, it will be placed on an open carrier for a slow road procession through Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo, and Kabarole districts to Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal (the kingdom’s sole official palace). This route was adjusted from an earlier direct airlift plan so subjects along the Mubende–Fort Portal highway can pay their last respects.  Mourning and burial The official nine-day cultural mourning period (okugaragara) begins once the body arrives at Karuziika Palace. Burial is scheduled for September 12, 2026 — the 31st anniversary of his coronation.  President Museveni has directed an official (state-supported) burial, with national flags to fly at half-mast for three days around the burial.
