i would ask if mirtazapine might be right for you. i’m the MA for a psychiatric nurse practitioner and that medication has worked wonders on some of our patients.

Trazodone and Benadryl (not together!) knock me OUT… Or for a less extreme option, Melatonin with chamomile made with milk instead of water are also very calming.

I tested very low on progesterone which is necessary for sleep so I was prescribed 300mg and also Namenda. Together they have worked great for me. Also, before these, the above suggestions of listening to an audiobook on EarPods helped a lot.

have you tried seroquel? im actually on it for some other things but its commonly used for alzheimers and dementia, plus its a sedative which might help fight through the anxiety:) its a different situation but i completely get it and seroquel for me has been one of my biggest saving graces.

I find progesterone is so helpful especially in perimenopause. Taken at bedtime it reduces my anxiety and about an hour later I doze straight off (and I used to really struggle to go to sleep and stay asleep).

Seroquel may help. We use it quite frequently for pts with dementia. Zyprexa is another one but it’s common to gain a bunch weight on Zyprexa because it increases your appetite.
