@well.north.living: ☀️Finally the weather we have been waiting for all summer…in September! 😆 🌧️ We have had an exceptionally rainy summer and if you haven’t seen it in the news, here’s a little recap: A tech startup named Rainmaker spent all summer quietly flying drones over the Kenai Peninsula, building up to a major “cloud-seeding” test on August 23. The goal was to combat droughts by triggering rain on demand. By firing silver iodide flares into the clouds, the drones successfully generated an estimated 19 million gallons of extra rain 🌧️ 😳 Now for the part people are upset about… Alaska residents and state officials were completely in the dark about this project. Because silver iodide is a heavy metal compound, its use has triggered immediate health and environmental concerns among Kenai Peninsula residents regarding what is washing down into our local watershed and soil. Areas of Alaska are also prone to flooding and there was no warning that unusual amounts of heavy rainfall were headed our way. This is not to say that cloud seeding research isn’t important, but you got to let the people know….Federal channels were cleared with zero state-level coordination or even a basic public heads-up.
