I think she is wrong because connecting with kids other than the classroom will strengthen your bond. Will keep them in touch with you longer. Unless you were videotaping during school hours you are giving them 100 per cent. The catch is once a teacher puts something out there that can offend someone they can easily fire you.

Teachers phones are going to be confiscated just like the students. Teachers said student phones were a distraction but they turn around and take away valuable teaching time to record content for their socials. Make it make sense.

I wonder how some teachers still make videos with students doing voice overs or having kids on camera. If it’s not before , after , or during your planning, you shouldn’t have your camera out period. Some of the most popular creators be having kids all up in their videos and that’s so unprofessional. I make teacher content to get support for my wishlists and class projects but other than that I can care less

This! As someone whose worked in education for 20 years, built a platform on Instagram, & now coach educational entrepreneurs, I tell educators this all the time. Read those handbooks, esp if you are an at will employee, have no union or work in a charter school.

I think my worst fear when my kids start elementary is if they get a teacher who does content on TikTok. Cause ion want my child’s voice or face in their videos and it being posted 😐

With all of the schools in my local area, banning cell phone use from students where they cannot even have them in the building or have to be locked up. It should go both ways for teachers. Teacher shouldn’t be making content during the school day.

Our school made it clear phones off and away during the day for students and staff no recording or posting online during teaching time your break and when you leave that’s your time

What she told you was absolutely correct. I remember learning nothing in 5th grade. I remember my 5th grade teacher’s name because til this day I can’t forget how all she did was make fabric dolls in class. Needle in hand at her desk or over there in front of her sewing machine all day, having the time of her life. She never taught us anything & only pretended to teach when she was being observed by the Principal. That is the only grade I remember learning nothing in.

That’s why I never posted regularly. I love others content but I just felt teaching is a beast in itself and I don’t have the time nor the commitment . I’m a teacher first. All else is noise.
