my adhd kiddos did not pick up reading well until he was 8. The more i pushed the less he wanted to read. I read to him every night and used an Orton Gillingham homeschool curriculum from kinder to 3rd and this year for third grade hes in public school and finally mostly caught up to grade level. a 5y/o adhd boy whos struggling to read is probably just not ready.

I had to pull my kid out of school , he was finishing 2nd grade and couldn't read a cvc word, he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, I started homeschooling and now he reads at his grade level (4th grade).

I agree with age. Also, there are Eye and Vision Comorbidities with ADHD, for example convergence insufficiency.

My slightly hyper daughter did really good with games. Sight word bingo and a game where we hung index cards with letters or words around the room. Then we would call out the letter, sound or word and the kids would race to the matching card.
