@truecrimemomtok: Okayyyy… Day 5 and we STILL don’t have a verdict. 👀⚖️ For the second time in two days, the jury in the Lindsay Clancy trial told Judge Sullivan they’re unable to reach a unanimous decision. But today was different. This time, Judge Sullivan gave the jury the Tuey-Rodriguez instruction… Massachusetts’ special instruction used when a jury says it’s deadlocked. Basically, jurors are being asked to go back, continue discussing the case, listen to each other and reconsider their positions…without giving up an honestly held belief just for the sake of reaching a verdict. after nearly 30 hours of deliberations… Still. No. Verdict. They’ve now gone home and will return tomorrow morning. And just to be clear: there has NOT been a mistrial. A deadlocked jury does not automatically equal a hung jury. They are still deliberating. But now that they’ve reported an impasse twice AND received the special deadlock instruction, tomorrow is going to be very interesting. Do they finally reach a unanimous verdict? Or do they come back and tell the judge they still can’t agree?
