It’s mid-November and still a good time to plant garlic! Garlic is super easy to grow. Here’s how: 🌱 Separate the bulb into cloves ready for planting. The larger the cloves, the bigger the bulb will be when it’s fully developed so avoid planting the very tiny cloves (eat them!). 🌱 Make a hole about 5cm deep and pop a clove in - the tip should be 2.5cm from the surface of the soil. Make sure to plant pointy end up, with the flatter part that was joined to the bulb at the bottom. 🌱 Cloves can be planted 15cm apart. 🌱 If you live in a wet climate like me in the UK, you won’t need to do anything now until the late spring summer, when they will need watering if it gets very dry. 🌱 Bulbs planted now will be ready in June. 🌱 It’s better to use garlic specifically for growing (either saved from your own stock or from a garden centre).
