I'm a step parent, if one of my step kids told me they wanted something, like dyeing their hair, I would ask my boyfriend (their father) and if he gave the green light, then I'm doing it. He's just as much their parent as their mom. But the mom isn't actively apart of my life so I dont need her approval, just his.

Girl delete this. I grew up with a petty mom like this and now I don’t have a relationship with her or anyone in my family cuz there was constantly beef like this. Being “right” about hair dye isn’t important in the long run

"the child wanted it" and my child wants ice cream and cake for every meal you think I should just let her? mom is right. dad was in the wrong.

Today its a hair dye, next week a hair cut, 12 years its going to a party, 13 years it'll be about something else. The issue isn't the hair dye, its the decision to dye the hair without getting an okay from both party's

idk, maybe someone can educate me. But it was temporary dye and the child wanted it, why not? Mom loves her gorgeous red hair, i love red hair, i have red hair. But if the daughter wants to dye it, why not? Its HER hair, the dye is temporary, will wash out, hair grows back, and the kid loves it. I get the communication issue, 100% should've talked to the mom first. But why say no? And another thing, why does the dad have to ask for something harmless like temporary dye of hair? I'm seriously looking for insight, not trying to argue, I just want a better understanding

as someone who is both a bio mom and someones baby daddy's fiance, this entire situation is such a disrespect of boundaries and the dad + fiance are in the wrong. 1st rule of bonus parenting - mom is always right unless the situation causes immediate danger.

I mean when you really think about it, your daughter probably just wanted hair like mommy. It wasn’t permanent, dad gave the ok, unfortunately shared custody comes with decisions that will be made ON BOTH ENDS that aren’t what the other wants. You’ve got to pick your battles- she’ll always remember the animosity if it continues this way

The way I would’ve immediately revoked their visits and time until they fixed their act. You will always regret being the chill one but you will never regret being the “bitter BM”.

As someone who is with a guy who has kids! What your baby dad’s girlfriend did was crossing the line. She is not the mom. She had no right in the slightest. On your side completely. That girl has one mom and that’s you! I make sure my boyfriends girls no that too!😊

Dad made her too and said it was okay. The tattoo sounds like she really loves your child. She’s his fiancé and has been there so it’s not weird. It’s okay for a child to have more support and love. and it’s conditioner. Washable. It’s not that serious. It’s no different than Halloween spray. And putting it all on the internet is absurd..

People don’t understand! ALTERING THE CHIDLS APPEARANCE AT ALL without the other parents knowledge or approval is wrong and the courts will side with that.

i feel as tho people are ignoring the fact that she said no. it doesn’t matter if dad said yes. it is a decision they should have made together if anything! should have never been done without full permition from both BIRTH parents!

As someone who coparents. I think it’s up to what the children want. If she want her hair dyed, she wanted her hair dyed.

What a weird way to justify dying a four year olds hair without their parents permission.. either way it’s not okay and the fact they’re not even correct.. 😂

As a step mom of almost 7 years now. I can tell you that this hair dye situation is so small to whats coming. There will be more situations that arise that will be way more worth your energy. Wasn’t the dye washable anyways? My advice to you is pick your battles and get a parenting plan.
