@thestorydaily: A rare and meaningful sighting has brought new hope to turtle conservation efforts in Terengganu. According to the Terengganu State Fisheries Department, a leatherback turtle, known as one of the largest turtle species in the world, is believed to have landed at Pantai Marang, Terengganu on 1 September 2026. The discovery was made after officers found large crawling tracks measuring about 2.1 metres wide, along with a nesting site containing eggs estimated to be around 52mm in diameter. A total of 44 eggs have since been safely transferred to the Rantau Abang hatchery and are expected to hatch within the next seven to nine weeks. The possible return of the “King of Turtles” has been described as a special moment for Malaysians, especially as the species was last reportedly seen in the country in 2017. #storydaily #malaysia #goodthingstoshare #newsmalaysia #fyp
