@kelseykingvandy1: 💧 DAY 2/14: WATER If the power went out tonight, would you have enough safe water for your family? Today we’re talking about one of the MOST important things you need in an emergency: WATER. A good baseline is at least 1 gallon per person, per day for drinking and sanitation. Plan for more if it’s hot, someone is sick or pregnant, or you have pets. But having water isn’t enough, you also need to know how to make it safe if your water supply becomes contaminated. WAYS TO TREAT WATER 👇 💧 FILTER: Use a water filter designed to remove the contaminants you’re concerned about. Remember, not every filter removes viruses, chemicals, or all microorganisms. 🔥 BOIL: Bring clear water to a rolling boil for 1 minute. At elevations above 6,500 feet, boil for 3 minutes. 🧴 BLEACH: If you can’t boil water, you can disinfect clear water with 8 drops of regular, unscented household chlorine bleach (5%–9% sodium hypochlorite) per gallon. Mix and let it stand for at least 30 minutes before drinking. 💊 WATER PURIFICATION TABLETS: Keep emergency water-treatment tablets on hand and follow the specific package directions. ⚠️ Boiling, bleach, and purification tablets do not make water contaminated with fuel, toxic chemicals, or radioactive material safe to drink. TODAY’S CHALLENGE: 1. Figure out how much water your household needs. 2. Start building your emergency water supply. Comment a ✅ when you’ve completed today’s challenge! More preparation = less fear. 🤍 Save this for an emergency + follow for Day 3 of the Power Out Prepared Plan.

Did I miss how to prepare the water you’re storing? Do you just fill the drum with water and let them sit?

The water heater holds water that is safe to drink. You just have to filter out the silt first.

Definitely upgrade from the life straws and potable aqua tablets. Rapid pure and grayl etc and aquatabs as they actually purify water

I get why you needed it but that still seems like a lot a gallon per person. I don’t even drink a half a gallon a day.

Sawyer filters are superior to life straws. Their gravity filters make it so you can filter the water into a container rather that sit there and have to manually suck it out. plus they last 100,000 gallons.
