I don’t know if laws vary by state, but if you’re married and your husband and you buy a house and your name is only on the deed, but not on the mortgage. It does not matter you are still going to incur 50% of the debt. Just as assets are split 50-50 so our liabilities but liability splitting is based on income also so if you make far less than him, the debt will be far less for you, but it will be equitable to your and his income.

ALWAYS have your own bank account with only YOUR name on it and telll no one. Stash as much money as you can every paycheck or anytime you get extra money. Trust me, it’s a lifesaver if things go to shit. Don’t keep checks, or have a debit card for it. Secret email for statements as well. You’re welcome.

Funny how after we separated I've brought up my credit score. Had my daughter talk to her dad and told him she wanted the house. I bought him out for less then he wanted and it's only in my name.

Ask him to make you an authorized user on his credit cards, assuming he has good credit and payment history!!

Can I just add your bank account. Me and husband have separate accounts and no feelings are hurt. It works.

What is your opinion on a guy that your seeing had plans with his 16 year old and she cancelled them on his Dad , then the Dad ( potential bf) made plans with the potential gf . Then cancelled gf plans because his 16 year old changed her plans again? Is it wrong for thinking it’s a red flag already ?

In my experience having your name on exactly ALL of these things prevents bad behavior & prevents the evil that comes out if he does decide it’s worth it to dip. More likely he won’t be stupid but just in case the investments & deed alone 🫶🏻

If you have pets, make sure veterinary records, insurance AND microchip are in your name. My ex tried to eff me and take our dog when we broke up but realized he couldn’t bc everything was in my name 😏
