There's an AI bubble. Not because the tech is fake, because the money moving between the biggest AI companies barely leaves the room. NVIDIA put up to $100 billion into OpenAI. Most of it comes back as orders for NVIDIA chips. AMD gave OpenAI a warrant for roughly 10% of the company, free, and got a promise to buy AMD chips in return. Even competitors do this: Google and Amazon have put over $70 billion combined into Anthropic, the company behind Claude, and Anthropic committed over $100 billion of it right back to Amazon's chips alone. Bain says the industry needs $2 trillion a year in revenue by 2030 to justify all this spending. Right now it's about $800 billion short, even with Anthropic's own revenue already past $65 billion. None of this means the tools are fake. Claude and ChatGPT still do real, useful work today, bubble or not.
